報告論題： The Return On Private Capital Across Countries: Rising and Diverging (with Debdulal Mallick)
報告要旨： Across 88 countries for 1970-2014, the return on private capital (ROK^P) has exhibited two phases, approximately constant from 1970-1990, but then rising dramatically from 1991-2014. This latter increase occurs for both Rich/Developed and Poor/Developing countries, though at an uneven pace; the Lucas Paradox seems to have become more pronounced in recent years. Despite falling real interest rates lowering ROK^P's 60% [163%] of the secular rise in ROK^P-POOR [ROK^P-RICH] is explained by rising equity risk, depreciation, and markups and by the capital loss from expected decreases in the relative price of new capital. Policy implications are discussed.

報告論題： Productive Consumption, Increasing Returns and Macroeconomic Dynamics
報告要旨： This paper investigates macroeconomic dynamics of a low-income economy by introducing productive consumption (PC) externality into Benhabib and Farmer's (1994; BF) increasing- return-to-scale model with factor-generated externalities. We have five findings. (1) Even without capital externality, indeterminacy occurs due to the PC externality under the same strength of labor externality as in BF model. This could explain a big diversity in the growth rates, which is one of the four stylized facts on growth of low-income economies. (2) When a steady state is saddle-point stable, the “intertemporal complementarity in consumption” may hold. Then, a market equilibrium path exists along which consumption is initially chosen at a high level and decreases monotonically toward the steady state. (3) When the PC externality is so weak that indeterminacy occurs, typical equilibrium paths cyclically converge to the steady state. (4) If the supercritical Hopf bifurcation occurs, equilibrium paths converge to a periodic cycle. These non-monotonic behaviors are consistent with empirical data. (5) If the subcritical Hopf bifurcation occurs, no equilibrium paths exists when capital is initially below a critical level. A “Big Push” may help escape from this type of “underdevelopment trap”, establishing a competitive market economy system.

報告論題： Capital and inventory investments under quantity constraints: A microfounded Metzlerian model
報告要旨： Although modern analyses of inventory dynamics identify the implicit roles of inventory holding, they do not entirely address its primary role. Contrary to intuition, the existence of inventory does not mitigate business cycle since the production fluctuates more aggressively than sales. This study analyzes the correlation between the current quantity constraints and choices in intertemporal optimizations by modeling inventory dynamics. The economy's quantity constraints are reflected in a representative firm's optimization of its current employment and investment based on the perceived sales constraints. Using analytical and numerical methods, the results show that the Metzlerian cycle of inventory and sales expectations survives under the canonical intertemporal optimization framework, as the stable inventory-to-sales ratio is reproduced. Additionally, this Metzlerian model illustrates the qualitative aspects of inventory dynamics in the business cycle. However, the quantitative aspects are not reproduced through the optimization framework because the firm's control is based on a stationary growth path, thereby weakening the effects of sales expectation dynamics.

報告論題： シュンペーターの貨幣の信用理論と貨幣的サーキット
報告要旨： 本報告では，シュンペーターの貨幣の信用理論を具体的に展開するうえで，ポスト・ケインズ派の貨幣理論の伝統の一つである貨幣的サーキット (monetary circuit) 理論に依拠しながら，両者の異同あるいはシュンペーター的特徴を明らかにする。具体的には，貨幣的サーキット理論では，信用は生産手段であり貨幣は取引手段であるとして，信用フローと事後的な貨幣ストックとを明確に区別するが，これがシュンペーターのいう貨幣の信用理論に相当するものか否かを明らかにすることが主な論点である。報告では，タイトルの先の論点として，ストック・フロー・コンシステントな分析枠組みとの関連についても言及する。本研究は，拙稿 (2021：季刊経済理論，58(3)) で論じたシステム・ダイナミクスの枠組みに貨幣的側面を導入していくための準備段階に位置づけられる。

報告論題： Numeraire and the Dual Equation with a Critique of Sraffian Wages paid post factum
報告要旨： This article argues that if and only if a set of means of consumption is chosen as the numeraire, the unique property of the double dualities appears between the price system and the quantity system, and the dual equation between them can be constructed. The dual equation is uniquely solved without reference to the constant propensity to save once any one variable out of profit rate, wage rate, growth rate, or consumption rate is exogenously given. Another contribution is the construction of a simple "nutshell economy" abstracting complicated input-output relations, in which even exploitation of workers is transparent without reference to labor value. It is along the tradition of the "classical political economy" of Smith, Ricardo, Marx, Leontief, and von Neumann. It presents, however, a critique of the widely shared assumption of Sraffian wages paid post factum: the Sraffian model does not guarantee reproduction of labor force in the quantity system. The article also claims that if we define the numeraire as a set of the minimum subsistence goods and services that are physiologically and socially necessary for reproducing one unit of labor force, such a variable numeraire serves as an “invariable standard of value” over time and national boundaries.

報告論題： マイクロ消費データを用いた都市のカーボンフットプリントの推定
報告要旨： 気温上昇1.5度や2度未満を達成するためには、パリ議定書において各国が提出した削減目標では不十分である可能性が高いことが分かっている。このような状況の中で、国ではない都市や州などの地方自治体はどのように温室効果ガス排出量の削減に貢献できるのかを模索している。典型的な都市では、カーボンフットプリントの約3分の1から半分がその都市内から排出されているに過ぎず、大部分は都市に流入する商品やサービスの生産によって排出されている。都市が緩和策を講じるためには，直接排出だけでなく、サプライチェーンからの排出についても基礎となるインベントリが必要である。本研究では、数十万世帯の詳細な消費者支出データと多地域間産業連関モデルを用いて、日本(1172都市)、インド (623都市)、EU (76都市)、インドネシア (514都市)の各都市の家計からのカーボンフットプリントインベントリを作成した（https://city.spatialfootprint.com/ 参照）。このインベントリにより、都市の政策立案者がカーボンフットプリント削減の対象としうる消費活動を特定することを可能とする。

報告論題： An Input Trade Model with Keynesian Unemployment: Bridging a Gap between Trade Theory and International Input-Output Analysis
報告要旨： 本報告では、規模に関して収穫不変かつ国／財ごとに異なる中間投入、２国以上で共通に生産される貿易財と定義される連結財、ケインズ的失業をもつ貿易モデルを提示する。線形で一般的な投入係数、需要変化にさいして安定的な価格構造、短期的な供給弾力性を持つので、このモデルは国際産業連関表(分析)と整合的である。このモデルは、各国の生産技術・労働賦存量・失業率の上限・上乗せ率(利潤率) ・最終需要が与えられれば、国際分業パターン・財価格・賃金率・産出量・雇用量(失業率)・国民所得・所得分配・貿易量／額を決定する。重要な発見の１つ：中間投入をもつ貿易においては、各国が比較優位にしたがって貿易するにもかかわらず、投入労働量が増大するという意味での貿易不利益が発生しうる。

報告論題： Disequilibrium Dynamics of the Monetary Economy: A Micro-Founded Synthesis of the Wicksellian Theory of Cumulative Process and the Keynesian Theory of Effective Demand
報告要旨： Macroeconomics lacks a micro-foundation for its foundation - the decentralized price-mechanism. This paper derives prices as behavioral variables from models of monopolistically competitive firms and builds a macrodynamic theory of the monetary economy on such micro-foundation. It shows the following. If prices are flexible, any deviation of the aggregate demand gap from zero inevitably generates errors in firms' expectations, thereby rendering rational expectations logically impossible. Firms' simultaneous attempts to rectify their errors start a Wicksellian dynamic process that drives the average price away from equilibrium. If prices are randomly sticky, any aggregate demand gap becomes compatible with firms' rational expectations, and the economy is stabilized at one of the infinitely many Keynesian equilibria. If prices are endogenously sticky, the economy approaches a Keynesian equilibrium as long as the aggregate demand gap stays within a band, although too large a gap triggers a Wicksellian cumulative process. The paper also provides a critique of rule-based monetary policies.
