Founded in 1998, the Asian Academic Accounting Association was formed after organizational meetings in Hong Kong and Maui that were attended by academic leaders from several Asian countries.The AAAA's objectives are to enhance the quality of accounting education and research in Asia and to foster interaction and fellowship among accounting academics and with accounting professionals, policy makers and regulators.

The 13th Annual Conference of the Asian Academic Accounting Association (AAAA) will bring together a diverse group of accounting and finance researchers, educators, and professionals from throughout Asia and the rest of the world. Organized and hosted by Kyoto University, the 2012 AAAA conference will focus on a variety of contemporary accounting and finance topics including newly hospital accounting and governmental accounting.
