I graduated from the First English Language High School in Sofia, Bulgaria. After a 2-year military service, I studied for five years (1982-1987) "Political Economy" at the Faculty of Economics, Moscow University. From 1988 to 1993, I was a researcher at Sofia University and at the Center for Strategic Business and Political Studies in Sofia, Bulgaria. I arrived in Japan in April 1993 as a Monbusho (Japanese Ministry of Education) research student and studied about the Japanese post-war industrial policy in the doctoral program of Kanazawa University from 1994 to 1997. Between 1998-2001 I taught courses on English Discussion, Macroeconomics, and International Economics as a research associate at the Department of Value and Decision Science, Tokyo Institute of Technology. I have been with the Graduate School of Economics and Faculty of Economics, Kyoto University, since April 2001.
