The first research meeting of BEAT (Business in Europe and Asia in the 20th Century), which is the affiliated research project of CARIS, was held in Utrecht University on March 22nd & 23rd, 2012.
Three members of CARIS, Takafumi Kurosawa (Kyoto University), Takeo Kikkawa (Hitotsubashi University), and Eugene Choi (Ritsumeikan University) participated in the meeting and presented the management policies of the research projects on shipbuilding, banking, and business history. Toru Imajo (Hannan University), who could not join the meeting, also contributed the report on banking industry.
