Title: "Job Crafting in the Context of Virtual Teamwork: Empirical Evidence Capturing Dynamic Relationships"
Abstract:
The rise of flexible and remote work arrangements has transformed how teams collaborate, raising critical questions for organizations seeking to maintain team effectiveness.
This seminar synthesizes findings from two full-panel, longitudinal studies that illuminate how job crafting operates as a collective resource in virtual team environments. More specifically, drawing on Job Demands-Resources Theory as an overarching conceptual framework, the seminar will (1) discuss how team-based job crafting can predict enhanced team creativity, mediated by emergent trust among teammates and moderated by the intensity of work-from-home arrangements, and (2) describe iterative relationships of team-based job crafting with listening and voicing, revealing their pivotal roles in shaping team engagement and mitigating exhaustion in hybrid work settings.
Taken together, these studies advance theoretical understanding of job crafting as a dynamic, multilevel process. Practical implications will be discussed vis-à-vis HRM interventions, emphasizing trust cultivation and support systems to sustain team performance in evolving organizational landscapes.
