Abstract:
The talk delves into the pivotal role of theoretical contributions in academic research. It addresses the inherent challenges and diverse pathways to making significant theoretical contributions. The presentation explores several frameworks for evaluating theoretical contributions. It underscores the importance of understanding the empirical world as a foundation for good theory and discusses the evolving nature of theorizing. This includes incorporating international perspectives, feminist and indigenous theories, and phenomenon based and personallyrelevant research. The talk encourages scholars to let their research settings guide their theoretical work, and emphasizes the value of emotional engagement in theorizing.
