(Title): ”Gendered Priorities in Resource Allocation: Immediate vs. Future Generations”
Abstract : The question of who benefits from our resources today versus tomorrow is embedded in every savings plan, educational investment, and sustainability choice, each reflectingthe tension between securing the immediate generation’s well-being and safeguarding the future.
As individuals make trade-offs between supporting the current generation and building for the future, allocation of resources becomes both a personal and societal dilemma.
Our preliminary findings via controlled experiments suggest that these choices reveal not only economic preferences but also motivational structures that link family roles and temporal horizons. More importantly, we show that such decisions differ by gender.
The present research has the potential to provide important insights for managers, policymakers, and sustainability communicators seeking to influence inter/intragenerational resource allocation
