Kyoto University invites applications for Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer in the field of management, beginning March 1, 2016. Preference will be given to applicants with research interests and teaching experiences in management. This position is posted as Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer. The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon the candidate’s qualifications. The successful candidate will teach advanced management for undergraduate and graduate students and do research at the Graduate School of Economics. In addition, s/he will teach in English general management for undergraduate students at the Institute for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education.

Content of work

  1. Teach three undergraduate and/or graduate courses on advanced management in the candidate’s areas of expertise in management at the Graduate School of Economics. In addition, teach in English two undergraduate courses (two classes per week for each course) on general management at the Institute for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education.
    ※ Hence the successful candidate is expected to teach 7 classes (5 courses) in one academic year. Note that each class meets 15 times (90 minutes each) once a week.
  2. Conduct actively research and produce valuable outcomes in the candidate’s areas of expertise in management.
  3. Participate actively in educational and administrative duties normally undertaken by faculty members.

Starting date
March 1, 2016

Business hours
Full-time employment in a discretionary working system 5 days a week. Working hours will require availability from 8:30 am to 5:15 pm Monday to Friday during the school year. Paid holidays are provided depending on the number of years working at our University.

Salary and benefits
Salary and benefits are determined in accordance with the existing employment regulations of Kyoto University. Salary is competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. S/he is eligible for MEXT mutual aid association membership, employment insurance, and workers’ compensation insurance.

1. Curriculum Vitae, in English or Japanese, with a recent photograph attached.
2. A list of research achievements, academic publications and presentations, and educational activities.
3. A sample of three works including at least one extensive research article, together with their abstracts in English (200 words).
4. A copy of the diploma and/or a certificate of the completion of the degree(s) earned.
5. A letter of recommendation.

Qualifications:
Requirements for the position:
1. Ph.D. degree in management, or a closely related field,
2. Evidence of scholarly research activity at an institution of higher education,
3. Native-level communication skills in English, and
4. Daily communication skills in Japanese required for administrative tasks normally performed by faculty members.

We will be interviewing the selected candidates by Skype or in person. The date of the interview will be notified. We may request the selected candidates to submit additional materials for the interview.
