About The Project

Japan has traditionally produced outstanding researchers in the field of international trade and remains one of the most active countries in this area of research worldwide. This is closely related to the fact that Japan relies heavily on imports for natural resources such as energy, while exports continue to play a key role in driving the domestic economy.

Given this context, our graduate school has strong potential to serve as a center for cultivating individuals capable of engaging in international trade research---both theoretical and empirical---on a global scale. Indeed, there is great significance in developing such a role. To achieve this, it is essential to advance cutting-edge research in the field and to enhance the quality of graduate education.

This project aims to promote frontier research in international trade, encompassing both theory and empirical analysis, and to develop educational programs that train young researchers, including graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, to thrive in the international academic community.
