Call for applications: Non-Tenure Track Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer (Management)

Kyoto University invites applications for a non-tenure track Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer in the field of management, beginning March 1, 2015. Preference will be given to applicants with research interests and teaching experiences in management. This position is posted as Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer. The rank of the selected candidate will depend upon the candidate’s qualifications. The successful candidate will mainly join our Institute for the Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education, where s/he will be expected to teach general management and English for economics and management for undergraduate students. In addition, there will be opportunities to teach advanced management for graduate students at the Graduate School of Economics.

Content of work
1. Teach a range of courses, including four 90-minute undergraduate classes per week during the first and second terms in the areas of general management and English for economics and management, as well as one 90-minute graduate class per week during the first or second term in the candidate’s areas of expertise in management.
2. Participate actively in educational and administrative duties normally undertaken by faculty members.

Starting date
March 1, 2015

Full-time (Non-tenured).
The initial contract term is three years and one month (until March 31, 2018). The contract is renewable, based on internal evaluation of teaching and research, only once for a maximum of one year up to March 31, 2020.

Treatments
Salary is competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Enrollment in the social insurance system, which consists of Employees’ Health Insurance, Employees’ Pension Insurance, and the Employment Insurance, is required. Kyoto University will cover half of the insurance costs. Working hours will require availability from 8:30 am to 5:15 pm Monday to Friday during the school year. Paid holidays are provided depending on the number of years working at our university.

1. Curriculum Vitae, in English or Japanese, with a recent photograph attached.
2. A list of research achievements, academic publications and presentations, and educational activities.
3. A sample of three works including at least one extensive research article, together with their abstracts in English (200 words).
4. A copy of the diploma and/or a certificate of the completion of the degree(s) earned.
5. A letter of recommendation.

Requirements for the position:
1. Ph.D degree in management, or a closely related field
2. Evidence of scholarly research activity at an institution of higher education
3. Native-level communication skills in English
4. Daily basic communication skills in Japanese
