Fields of Research: Japanese Economic History (Industrial Adjustment of Declining Industries), Global Economic History (International Trade System after W.W.II)
Skills and Qualities Required for Prospective Students:
As my specialty is Japanese economic history, it is a condition of acceptance that you have an interest and a basic knowledge in the subject of that field. The research target is a wide range of pre- and post-war periods (around the 1860s-2000s), targeting fields such as policy, industry, and enterprises, but not just the recent Japanese economy since the 1990s: the historical analysis with historical perspectives and methods is a requirement.
The basic language used for this course is English, but if you major in Japanese economic history, it is desirable that you are familiar with Japanese as well. This is because most of the materials used for research are in Japanese. If you cannot read Japanese documents / materials, please specify your research advantages (methods, viewing angles, documents / materials / surveys in other languages, etc.) in your research plan.
Please refer to the Personal Website for more information.
