I was born in the Philippines, and lived in Hong Kong, and Melbourne (for most of my life), before making Kyoto my home since 2019. Growing up, I was surrounded by family members who were businessmen and entrepreneurs, so I naturally also fell into ‘business’ – first as a student (completing a Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Business (Honours) degrees), then as a worker (at the Head Office of Yakult Australia Pty Ltd; first as a Sales Clerk, and then as the assistant to the Managing Director, where I was involved in marketing, market research, and the ISO accreditation process), and later, also starting my own businesses. However, teaching has always been my passion; and I am grateful to be able to combine my passion for teaching and business in a teaching career that started in 2004, where I have, over the years, taught various business courses including: services marketing and management, product and brand management, global marketing, and international management, etc. at: the University of Melbourne, Monash University, RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) University, SIM (Singapore Institute of Management) University, HKMA (Hong Kong Management Association), and Doshisha University. When I am not teaching, I enjoy conducting research related to consumers and the unique relationships they form with products and brands, as well as about consumption cultures and communities.
