気候危機と環境破壊に直面している今、私たちには、既存のパラダイムを超えて社会的・生態的ウェルビーイング優先の社会を積極的に創造する方法を学ぶことが求められています。そしてそのためには、想像力の根本的な転換が不可欠です。関心を寄せる分野や研究テーマにかかわらず、批判力を備え、積極的に社会に関わってゆく一員であって欲しいと思います。


With the climate crisis and global environmental destruction we face, it is imperative that we radically shift our imaginations beyond the current operational paradigms and learn how to actively create a society that prioritizes social and ecological well-being. No matter your area of interest, and subject of study, I hope students can be a critical and engaged member of the larger society that we are all a part of.

自己紹介

米国スミス大学卒業後、カリフォルニア州や中米のニカラグアで環境教育や農業に携わり、アグロエコロジーを学んだことをきっかけに、食料システムの問題に関心を持つようになりました。京都大学地球環境学舎にて修士・博士課程を修了。２０１６年より５年間、総合地球環境学研究所の「持続可能な食の消費と生産を実現するライフワールドの構築−食農体系の転換に向けて」（ＦＥＡＳＴ）プロジェクトの研究員として勤務しました。農村発展、食生活の転換を通して観る現代の小農と持続可能な食料システムに関心をもっています。


After graduating from Smith College in the US, I worked on environmental education and agroecology projects in California and Nicaragua. I received MA (2010) and PhD (2016) from Kyoto University Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies. I worked as a project researcher for the Lifeworlds of Sustainable Food Consumption and Production: Agrifood System in Transition (FEAST) Project at the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) before coming to Kyoto University. My areas of interest include sustainable rural (post)development, and agroecological food systems transitions in both Japan and in Bhutan.
