”Inclusion of International Student and Graduate Entrepreneurs: Case Studies of University Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in the UK”
Abstract : Entrepreneurial ecosystem research has increasingly called for greater attention to inclusion and diversity; however, the inclusion of ethnic minority entrepreneurs remains underexplored. This study examines how universities foster the inclusion of International Student and Graduate Entrepreneurs (ISGEs) within university entrepreneurial ecosystems. Drawing on qualitative case studies of 15 UK universities, the findings identify multiple roles played by universities in supporting ISGE inclusion. The analysis further shows that this inclusive effect weakens when universities are replaced by profit-driven firms in key ecosystem roles following a policy shift, highlighting how the institutional logics and intentions of entrepreneurial ecosystem stakeholders shape inclusiveness.
