Special Lecture: Global Financial Crisis and Asia

[Instructor] Dr. Bhanupong Nidhiprabha
Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University, Thailand

[Description]
The course provides students an understanding of the causes and consequences of the GFC on Asia.
Students would understand how most Asian economies managed to survive the worst of the 2009 crisis.
We can assess various countries’ policy responses to the crisis and identify lessons on avoiding future crisis.
Synchronized business cycles in Asia complicate the conduct of macroeconomic policy in the era of globalization.
It is expected that students learn how economic theory can be used to analyze complex issues in changing trade and financial environment, which is always subject to external shocks.
